Congressmen Obey and Kuhl Write NTSB over MRF's Concerns
The Motorcycle Riders Foundation is extremely pleased to announce that
United States Representative David Obey of Wisconsin, Chairman of the
House Committee on Appropriations has written a letter to the Chairman of
the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) citing many of the
concerns that we have in regard to their recommendations relative to
motorcycle safety.
Congressman Obey is one of the most influential members of congress,
chairing the committee which oversees government spending. It is uncommon
for a committee chairman to take such action.
Mr. Obey was preceded in writing the NTSB by United States Representative
Randy Kuhl of New York. Congressman Kuhl was direct in personally asking
the NTSB to reconsider their recommendations. Mr. Kuhl is a longtime
supporter of motorcyclists' rights and we are delighted that he has taken
this step.
Many of our SMRO partners are making a trip to Washington to express
concern over this issue. Vice President of Government Relations Jeff
Hennie has had 37 appointments in the first three days of this week. At
the risk of stating the obvious the MRF is working this issue very hard.
We have announced the details of our press conference to the Washington
press corp. in a press advisory. That information is included below.
